Beach Camping
Do I need a 4WD to get down to the Beach and Creeks?
Yes you do require a 4WD.
Whats the condition of the road to the beach and creek?
The condition can vary due to the seasonal conditions (Rainfaill). It is maintained and graded 3 - 4 times a year. But as we say its not a highway.
What type of fish can I catch?
In the shallow flats of Giralia have great sight casting for Trevally, Queenfish, Bream and Whiting. Giralia is a great place to launch a small boat to explore the small creeks. The small creeks hold Mangrove Jacks, big Cod, Threadfin Salmon, Bream, Dusky Flathead and Trevally. Around the western headland is a great place for trolling lures for Spanish Mackerel. The reef area here also holds Bluebone Tuskfish. Blue mannor crabs and big mangrove mud crabs run at certain times of the year. Prawns run on the Western side of the Gulf around Roberston island - you will require a throw net.
Where do I launch my boat? Can I moore it?
Boats can be moorded along the beach and in the creek. The tide does go out so your boat will be left on the mud, so its a personal prefrence.
Are there sandflies down at the Creek and the Beach?
We strongly recommend you prepare yourself against midgies (tropical strength repellent, citronella etc). Like the rest of outback W.A., sometimes we have those annoying sandflies and bities. Usually they appear after a rain.
Are there showers and toilets at the beach camping?
No, Giralia Bay's beach camping is completely self sufficient. Therefore you must bring a chemical toilet and your own water. Or you may ring in advance and can rent a chemical toilet from the station while you camp at the beach.
Chemical toilet camping at the beach FAQ

If you bush camp dogs must be on a lead at all times and picked up after. If you do have a dog with you, you will be camping at the lower camp ground.
Can we have our own campfires down at the beach and at the homestead?

How do i check Tide Times
Go on to BOM or Willy Weather and look for Exmouth/Learmonth. Giralia tides are 30 minutes later than Exmouth.
Can we bring a horse?
Yes, but pls contact us first. We have horse yards and riding trails. Paying guests may keep a horse here free of charge, but yards must be mucked out on departure. We accept no responsibilty should any horse injur itself or escape whilst at Giralia.
Can guests get WIFI or telephone anywhere on the property?
One of the downsides of outback life can be the problem of communcation! At the homestead area, there is no access for guests to WIFI, the reason being is we are remote and therefore get very limited intenet allowance. By remaining very conservative with our internet use, we usually have enough data to get by, however, this means that UNFORTUNATELY, we do not have the luxury of sharing WIFI with our visitors! We have looked into different ways to overcome this situation, but havent been able to find a solution yet.
